For Your Glory
- The Bear Foundation -
In Fall of 2022, I was babysitting my grandson, Bearett, who we affectionately call “Bear”. We had worship music on and I raised his little hands to teach him how to worship when God spoke to my heart. There was something wrong with Bear and I could see all the milestones that he was not meeting. Just as Jacob wrestled with God until Daybreak, I walked around the room crying and pleading and praying and begging God for what seemed like until Day Break. The wrestling turned into surrender as I accepted what the Lord had spoken. You know, we always fear something happening to our child, but I never considered my grandchild and the burden I would carry for both of them. I eventually encouraged my daughter to take Bear to the Doctor and through a series of tests, we received a diagnosis of a Perinatal Stroke and Cerebral Palsy
During another morning of prayer, God asked me why I hadn’t asked him to heal Bear and I said, “because you told me his diagnosis and I accept your word”. He asked me again, and I realized that I was lacking the faith to do so. I told God I didn’t have faith and he said then asked me for the faith to believe for Bear’s healing. I was reminded that he gives us all a measure of faith. Romans 12:3 states “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” Faith is a gift from God, so I asked him for Faith to believe in healing. In Luke 11:9-12, we can ask for more faith, and; in Luke 22:32, we can ask that our faith be strengthened.
In John 9:1-38, there was a man born blind, that Jesus healed. The Disciples asked Jesus who sinned, him or his parents, to which Jesus replied, “neither but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him”. I believe that, and thankfully one of my prayer partners confirmed it. Little Bear has come so far, and while he is still not totally healed, he is being healed day by day. I can’t tell you that this journey will end in Bear’s total healing, but I can tell you it ends with the works of God displayed in all his Glory.
In December of 2023, God spoke once again and asked me to start the Bear Foundation so my husband and I set out to do just that!
He requested we help children and families who are struggling to find the right resources and benefits. I’m here to tell you that God loves children, and in Matthew 21:16, he states, “out of the mouth of babes you have perfected praise". Our mission is to assist as many children as possible who are facing a similar walk. We invite you to help us in that mission!
